Northbrook Senior Highs

Senior Highs on Sunday Night

Every Sunday afternoon from 4pm-6pm, youth in grades 6-8 come to the Youth House behind the church for fun, fellowship, and Bible Study. Each week we start our time together with Bible Study and we make it really fun while still connecting it to our everyday lives. After Bible Study we play lots and lots of games including ones you've played before and many different ones that are unique to Northbrook. About once a month, we'll leave the church and do something cool like play Laser Tag, go ice skating, or even go to a Piston's game.
On Sunday nights from 7-9pm we meet at the Youth House behind the church for fun, fellowship, and Bible Study.  We start our time together with Bible Study that's interesting and connected to our everyday lives. Afterwards, we play lots and lots of games, some that you've played before and some that are unique to Northbrook.  Both the leaders and the youth have a great time! About once a month we leave the church and do something exciting like Laser Tag, going to a Haunted House, or even going to a Tiger's game.

Senior High Bible Study

Every Wednesday we get together for dinner at 6:00pm in fellowship hall, followed by a Bible Study from 6:45-8:00pm.  We spend our time discussing how to live our faith at school, with our friends, on our sport teams, and with our families. Lately, our Bible studies have consisted of watching an episode from a television series each week and talking about how the characters' lives are affected by God and what Christ calls us to do in whatever situation the characters find themselves.  We've already done studies on Smallville, Eli Stone, and Joan of Arcadia.

Retreats

Retreats are an important part of our youth program because they bring us together as a group and allow us to get away from whatever problems we're facing at home and focus on our relationship with Christ and each other.
We play lots of games, tackle High and Low Ropes Courses, roast marshmallows over a campfire and learn more about our faith. We've had our retreats at the Howell Conference and Nature Center, Spring Hill, and in the winter, occasionally on the ski slopes.

Mission
Trip

As soon as school gets out for the summer, we leave home for a week full of mission and service to those who are in desperate need of it. We help to rebuild and fix up the homes of those who don't have the money or ability to do so themselves. We have had our mission trips in Racine, WI, Reading, PA, St. Louis, MO and Rockford, IL. Christ calls us to help others and our youth definitely respond to that call.

Camp

Every summer, Northbrook runs a week long church camp for children and youth in grades 1st-12th.  Our Senior Highs come as Junior Counselors and assist the Adult Counselors with games, crafts and caring for the younger campers.  The week is full of Bible Stories, a Live Clue Game, Game Show Night, Mock Rock, Water Regatta, and much more.  We have tons of craft activities, sports, and games to keep the week packed full of fun.  Camp is an excellent opportunity to become a leader while having fun and growing closer to God.
