| Mid Highs on Sunday Afternoon
Every Sunday afternoon from 4pm-6pm, youth in grades 6-8
come to the Youth House behind the church for fun, fellowship, and Bible Study.
Each week we start our time together with Bible Study and we make it really fun
while still connecting it to our everyday lives. After Bible Study we play lots
and lots of games including ones you've played before and many different ones
that are unique to Northbrook. Both the leaders and the youth have a great
time! About once a month, we'll leave the church and do something cool like
play Laser Tag, go ice skating, or even go to a Piston's game.
LOGOS
Northbrook is an enthusiastic participant of the LOGOS
program. This is an afterschool program held every Wednesday from 4:30pm-7:30pm
during the school year in which children from Kindergarten through 12th
grade participate in Bible Study, recreation, worship skills, and dinner time
with members of our church. It's a fantastic chance for the Mid Highs to get
together and have a great time in the middle of their busy week.
Retreats and Lock-Ins
A youth program cannot exist with out crazy lock-ins and
retreats. We usually have a couple of lock-ins every year where we stay up
late, play ridiculous games, make crafts, eat way too much junk food, and have
a blast! We usually have them on a Saturday night so that we all get to show up
in church on Sunday morning in our pajamas. We have at least one retreat every
year where we get an entire weekend to have fun and focus on God. Though the
location changes, the youth always have a great time with meaningful
experiences and bonding.
Camp
Northbrook runs its
own Summer Church Camp every year in collaboration with Orchard United
Methodist Church in Farmington Hills, MI. Camp is for children and youth
in 1st-12th grade. The 6th and 7th
graders are our oldest campers and our 8th graders come as
Counselors in Training which gives them added responsibilities and privileges,
including getting to stay up later. The week is full craft activities,
sports, games, and Bible Studies that help our youth nurture their
relationships with their peers, other church members, and most importantly,
God. Some of the activities include a Live Clue Game, Game Show Night, Mock
Rock, and Water Regatta. Camp is fantastic opportunity to become a leader while
having a great time and growing closer to God.
